HIC (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the website HIC.in. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you visit our website.


Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. 

Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment.


Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid including images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download images from the site and extract any location data they contain.


Cookies

  • When you leave a comment, you may opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies last for one year for your convenience.

  • When you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

  • When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” will keep you logged in for two weeks. Logging out will remove login cookies.

  • If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved to indicate the post ID of the article you edited. This expires after one day.

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You may also request that we erase your personal data. This does not include any data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
